5. GEOPATH Accessible Field Project

The IAGD is partnering with researchers on an NSF-funded project to examine new approaches to making field work more accessible for students with physical disabilities. In May of 2016, students from colleges and universities all over the US participated in a week-long research trip to Arizona. The group was chosen to represent a wide range of physical ability. The study documented the challenges for students with disabilities in the field and examined potential solutions using a combination of teamwork and technology. This May, the same group of students and researchers will travel to Ireland to extend this exciting study. You can see a video with footage from the trip and student’s thoughts on participating in this study on our YouTube channel: tinyurl.com/j5k2lkw
